Four days in Wales staying in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Blaenau, an historic mining town, is in the middle of Snowdonia and it's a great base for exploring the mountains and lakes.
The weekend started with us getting drenched whilst out walking, well it is Wales so expect rain! Late Sunday morning and the weather had improved so we took a trip to Criccieth and had a go at some arty farty pictures, black & white and flat water.... not bad at all. Last stop of the day was Maentwrog viewpoint, overlooking the estuary out towards Porthmadog - we'd hoped for a sunset but it didn't really materialise so we settled for a bit of bat watching instead!
Monday was an early start for a sunrise and a scramble up the mountainside to take some piccy's of Tryfan in the Ogwen valley. Breathtaking scenery but very wet feet due to leaking wellies. Swallow Falls was the next stop, closely followed by a return trip to Bodnant Gardens, not quite as spectacular as our visit two years ago but still beautiful. We rounded off the day with a sunset at lovely Llyn Mymbyr - peace and quiet and the sun going down behind the distant mountains.... bliss!
All in all a packed weekend.

Love the blog, keep them coming.
